"Known for creating surreal worlds through the combination of photographs"
- erikjo.com

My influential artist is Erik Johansson. I enjoy that he combines real items within his work and utilizes them together in ways that are surreal or improbable, yet at the same time, still look natural in the composition. It challenges the way we think and view the world around us. It also brings our environment closer to us and showcases how we can use our imaginations in endless ways by just looking around.

Mr. Johansson states on his website that while his post-production process is filled with extensive editing, he does not use AI, illustrations, or stock images in his work. This creates a level of authenticity and an appreciation for the originality of each final image. One of the things I admire about him most is that dedication and level of work he puts into producing the images he has in his mind.

I find his way of making the pieces feel as if you are exploring a different world, but still our own. I would like to create something similar with an ethereal, dreamlike feel. Similar to the things you might see while sleeping, even if strange or sometimes frightening. Intertwining various objects and concepts into a final work that flows well together is my goal.
