  1. The portfolio I found used the Concept, Compositions, and Photoshop compositing techniques well was Meg Neal. During the critique, I remember she wanted to create works that were inspired by April Greiman. Greiman's work is known for its bright colors, layering of items, and unified look. What drew me into Meg's pieces was how cohesive everything looked and rather than experimenting and changing each image up significantly all the images fit the same theme. The inclusion of a subject, cool colors of blues and purples, and layering of scientific elements.

The concept works well in the final portfolio because of the cohesive design and how no element overpowers another. It looks like she used a lot of overlays and blending which helped highlight certain elements in the composition since the background isn't included in the layered images. Looking at all the works, one that stood out to me was Untitled 5. This work, although I feel fits the theme the subject on the right is too densely saturated and could have a lower opacity. The work is original and creative without being repetitive because of the change in scale, placement, and scientific elements. Meg, I think built from her artistic influence and created work that was unique to her art style and showed her personal creativity.

Her Photoshop Technique I think is slightly challenging because each image is thought out of where the numerous elements would be placed and what is layered on top of what. Her Photoshop technique is appropriate, professional, and is blended together rather than having harsh lines. For Untitled 3, I noted there is a background of a building, and it felt a bit out of place with the overall portfolio. Untitled 4 I think works the best as far as Photoshop Technique as my eye flows easily around the piece.

Having a dimly lit subject and lowering the opacity throughout the portfolio worked effectively to support the concept. Each element flows with something else. I also noticed elements are layered and repeating in a single composition rather than repeating through all the works. This makes each piece feel different rather than repetitive. The subject seems to be the primary thing that is photographed and since there isn't a background with the subject it is hard to see the depth of field which I think fits the theme of April Greiman's work. Each work seems intentional and complements each other rather than vary dramatically. I maybe would have explored using more colors in each composition. All images of the subject are positioned looking away from the camera. Since critique, I am glad this was changed because with this series of works if the subject were looking into the camera, it would take away from the overall feeling and create an automatic focal point and would be less open to a viewer's interpretation.

The Book Layout has not been shared with this Portfolio.
