For this project I aimed to emulate the feeling of looking at an old photograph through the combination of editing and costuming! I have many different outfits at my disposal so I decided to go with some that leaned into the fashion at the time of wet plate collodian photography. The concept was "creepy tea party" where the longer you look at the image the more you see that looks wrong. From the blurred face to the poison on the table to the bones and teeth scattered around I wanted to convey that disturbing/creepy theme without being overwhelming. I took two photos in different outfits, wigs, and makeup in the same setting using a camera on a tripod and then edited it together to make it appear as if the figures are in the picture together. After that I adjusted the colors, focus in the backgroud, and levels before addign in signs of wear and age to the picture. The cracks stemming from the head of the right figure and the lower left corner were taken from "Fort Morton, Petersburg, Virginia, from the southeast" from the collection Civil war photographs, 1861-1865 from the Library of Congress.
