Architectural Blend - Sena Lor

My concept is to create a believable environment of a railroad leading into the city. Within the wall on the left I included in some windows to give a sense of life, implying that this area is inhabited my people. The graffiti on the wall itself also implies this as well. To provide a peaceful mood I made the overall image cool with a warm lighting. This also provides a time of day setting in the later morning.

  1. Sena Lor’s architectural blend is a collage of images forming a realistic scene of a cement block building connected to a train track with the rest of Charlotte in the distance. There is graffiti on the building. There is also a train stop to the right of the train tracks but instead of being placed on concrete it is on the grass. In true Charlotte landscape, there is also an impressive tree line behind the train stop. The sky is slightly cloudy but still bright.

The work itself seems to be trying to portray a normal environment you could find in Charlotte NC. It appears to be another representation of the integration of nature and the modern architecture of the city. A calming environment that is currently void of human interaction but with the constant reminder of the human presence without any human in visible sight.

The work itself is put together pretty well. The lighting makes sense and nothing truly seems out of place. There is a great sense of depth in the image. The building and train stop help frame the image well and create a sense of direction for your eyes. However at closer look there are a couple areas of issue but overall not too bad. On the upper right of the train stop there is some left over parts of a building from the original image it came from. Additionally the windows of the concrete block building have some small issues with proper prospective. Additionally the train stop looks as if it is floating and not quite on the ground.

In many cities, seeing just a small sliver of nature present is a rarity. Not many large cities contain so much foliage. This comparison of city life and its unique connection to nature in this area shows a glimpse of what other cities could look like if nature was allowed to thrive. There are problems with larger cities and the inaccessibility to nature but this image shows how much improvement an area can experience by introducing greenery to it. Instead of being a dreary train stop, it is a calming environment and seemingly easy to breath in. More cities could due with such a change in scenery and this image, in a way, proves that.

Sens Lor’s piece is a stellar architectural blend attempting to fabricate a realistic place in Charlotte without the place truly existing. All the elements are believable in nature but there are a few elements here and there that are slightly off. Not so much so that the first impression is lost. This image portrays a calming environment to an experience that usually inspires anxiety, the dreaded wait for the next train.
