  1. My concept is about capitalism and mass corporations beginning to run the country. Slowly smaller or family-owned businesses are being run down by mass corporations. We have become normalized to see the same businesses and buildings repeated throughout the country and over time smaller businesses are becoming extinct.

  2. Hi! When looking at your work I think your composition works well with the use of lighting and then the proportions. The blending of the work helps create the darker tone of the image. Your layering works well except for in the bottom right, it is a bit noticeable. I think adding another building there, maybe like the side of Burger King would help emphasis your idea or maybe have the soda shop fit the entire bottom half.
When looking at the work I first thought of it as the idea of how ever since the pandemic hit the idea of people working has been very scarce. The use of the local shop and then the Burger King sign with the inclusion of “now hiring” and the dark sky convey it quite well. When looking at your interpretation it makes sense. I think that possibly making the Burger King sign bigger or do something to make it either more provocative or hidden details to give off the idea of how the big businesses are slowly taking over.
Overall, I would say that it looks great! Maybe blend the Burger King sign a bit more or add the detail stated in the first paragraph about the bottom. I think it would be fun if you were able to have, they guy sitting eating outside be in a Burger King uniform. Maybe add more than one restaurant or add different major corporate companies. I’m not quite sure about the cracks on the left window if they are as effective since it doesn’t feel like a natural crack in a window, maybe remove some of lines within the crack.
I think like I stated in the second paragraph the idea of how lots of places are struggling to hire due to the pandemic. I think that it is important to keep the idea of local where it clashes with the idea of the “American Dream” of being successful and having your own business and there’s usually more a sense of community and warmth with local businesses. As we move forward in this society, I think there will always be this want for local places because that’s what makes us feel more connected. Like reading the article the idea of nostalgia and how these places are the places that make us feel alive and feel like were more than just a number in the corporate capitalism world. Nice work :)
