Building connections by Rocky

For the architectural blend project, I revised it and this was the idea that I came up with. The Lego "doors" or arches are the idea of being open to making those connections. As they lead up to the top with the two people where the earth is and make the connection throughout the world, like having a worldly perspective. Then the spiral motion upward can also be seen as DNA and the Lego's within show that we are meant to build connections with people. And lastly, the sky gives the sense of hope and the warmth of love and being able to make those connections. (all photos taken by me)

  2. The composited image shows two figures walking up a staircase that is made out of some sort of masonry. The main focal point is a centered globe that stretches between the two main subjects. The two figures, man and woman, are in motion or appear to be walking up the stairs as if the globe is the destination. Flags of the world are featured on the staircase. The background includes a warm sunset with green clouds to compliment the background composition.

My interpretation is that the concept focuses on revolutionizing the world. Perhaps the concept expresses a want for unity within the division of the world. I see the man and woman as a representation of the human species as a whole. The flags and the globe puzzle together provides the thought of world peace being the main focus. The evident use of a statue could also invoke the need to create a standard of having a positive society rather than the one we experience today.

The statue of the two people walking towards the globe is a very thought provoking composition. The flags of the world are a great way to foreshadow the main focal point which is the globe in the center. The viewpoint is very interesting for the audience. It aids the idea of having unity and peace within the world as the main goal. It figuratively ties the literal action of looking up from the vantage point. The sunset is beautiful and helps set the mood of the image, but it also disrupts the natural flow of the viewpoint. Perhaps if the background was angled higher than the globe, it would give a seamless flow to the viewer's eye. The use of trees was the perfect addition to balance out the warm tones; a good use of color theory. The highlight on the globe could also be muted down or highlighted with a warmer hue to help blend the composition together as well.

This work fits well in the existence of today. Peace throughout the world is a topic that will remain relevant due to the way society resorts to resolving issues. There’s constant wars and disagreements throughout the world, so this work would help that sense of hope towards the goal of resolving peace around all nations.

In conclusion, the choice of selection in pictures shows the well thought out process behind the composition and theme. The mood and tone was well achieved by the simple use of color theory. The sunset is the only main distraction because of the difference in vantage points. There are minor things that can be changed like rethinking the use of the globe with a different highlighted area and the scattered placement of flags. Overall, the work achieved its main goal of positive emotion.
