Sami Pacitto Under the Influence

  1. These images play a lot with scale. For the first image there is more of a landscape orientation. The first image has a lot of digital compositing elements. The first two are more similar whereas the last image is more illustrative. The first two images have more of a muted color palette. The last image focuses a lot on a pastel color palette. Something that is repeared in all three was the use of birds. The second image shows a large bird in front of a nest that relates in size, however the setting is smaller in size making it seem like the figure is taking up the entirety of the composition.
I think these pieces could tell a story based on the order everything is in. The circle of life seems to be a prevalent theme. You have the bird and the nest of eggs, a clear depiction of a bird and then finally a cemetery and a skeleton flying.
I think the scale was used nicely. In the second piece I think it could be cleaned up a little more. The bird itself just needs to be cleaned up around the edges. The shadow of the nest could be blurred or faded a little more. In the third image I would suggest adding some more depth to it. The background being solid makes it fall a little flat.
I think This piece tells a story of nature and the circle of life. There is a common theme in all 3 which is the images of the bird. I think this could tell a story of animals claiming back their land or protecting what's theirs. Humans can be greedy and not take animals into consideration.
I think the most successful piece is the second. I think this one plays with scale a lot more. I think the photo is a lot crisper however I feel like there is something missing. I wish there was maybe something happening in the background or with the eggs themselves as if they were hatching. I would say the first two are more cohesive, the 3rd piece could be played with more to fit the same aesthetic or maybe some 2D elements could be added to the first two pieces to help resolve this.
