This collective portfolio is Jennie’s work influenced by Anwar Mostafa. The overall portfolio is very unique, each piece has a very distinct figure and pose, but all of the pieces are cohesive and unified. The visual factors that impressed me the most is the use of nature and the implementation of that element within the works. The concept does embrace digital compositing and the use of Photoshop. I remember Jennie’s last drafts, they were all very good originally, but the final products are well done! I love the contrast between the light and dark areas combined and the use of different filters and blending modes. I think the work is original, cohesive, and creative throughout all the pieces without feeling repetitive. I think the different poses with Jennie and Meg looking in different directions really elevates the pieces. Jennie’s pieces grow and build from Anwar Mostafa's work. His work is very light and bright with more textures throughout. Jennie’s pieces took inspiration from his work but I like how she blurred some natural elements and highlighted specific things in the pieces while still overlapping textures over the subjects. The Photoshop technique is very professional and appropriate. When I first saw this I envisioned it as being a cover for something like a magazine with it being all the works within the magazine. Lighting, depth of field, and some filters with blur effects are employed effectively in these works. I do think that those elements that Jennie added support the concept and meaning of the work. The composition and facial expressions help convey the meaning of the works. I like how wherever the eyes lead there is something in that direction. Some of the works Jennie is directly looking into the lens of the camera and I think that is a strong aspect where the ones where it is looking off in the distance is more tame and calm. Having direct eye contact is a strong and impactful impression when viewing the works. Booklet layout was not posted.
